Recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the deployment of troops to Ukraine are attempts to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in talks, stated the President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, for the Russian newspaper “Izvestia”.

He said that Macron’s statements about sending troops are merely establishing negotiating positions, given that France is a military power in the EU that possesses nuclear weapons and manufactures military aircraft, while reminding that other European countries, such as Italy, Spain, or Germany, do not have these capabilities, and that the United Kingdom has already left the Union.

“France simply wants to strengthen its position in the negotiation process. Macron is waiting for Putin to call him for talks, hence he talks about sending troops to Ukraine. These two things are connected. It’s as if he’s asking to be invited,” highlighted Stevandić.

Macron did not want to rule out the possibility of deploying ground forces of Western countries to the zone of Russia’s special military operation after the conference in Paris, TASS reminds.
