President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated that the decision of the European Council to start negotiations with BiH confirms the Dayton structure of BiH.
“This is a confirmation that the Dayton structure of BiH functions,” Dodik said at a press conference.

He mentioned that this confirms there is no need to change the Dayton structure of BiH.
“This means that the three constituent peoples and two entities can act through the coordination mechanism,” Dodik was clear.

He pointed out, however, that a date has not been determined and certain issues still need to be addressed.

“In any case, the European Council is the most authoritative political body in Europe. They have determined that BiH is politically stable. It is incompatible with the EU to impose any solutions,” Dodik said.

If anything is imposed, the Republika Srpska and BiH will no longer be on the European path.
“If someone dares to interfere with the Election Law, we will create our law,” Dodik declared.

He commented on the Venice Commission’s opinion on the Constitutional Court of BiH.
“The Constitution states that judges cannot continue to work in the Constitutional Court after the age of 70. Now we see that the Venice Commission said that it could be possible, but that would be a destruction of the Constitution,” Dodik was clear.

Dodik emphasized that the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, will represent the Republika Srpska in all negotiations on BiH’s accession to the EU, and Srpska will propose the chief negotiator.

“The Chair of the Council of Ministers, who participates in negotiations on the European path, is from the Croat people, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers is a Bosniak, the deputy is a Croat, while the director of the Directorate for European Integration is a Bosniak,” Dodik highlighted.
