“Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” is exclusively committed to investments in renewable energy sources, which will be a permanent guarantee for maintaining low electricity prices in Srpska, stated Luka Petrović, General Director of ERS.
Petrović mentioned that ERS already has three such projects contracted and seven ready for implementation.
According to him, investments in renewable energy sources will also contribute to an increase in electricity exports and revenues in the budgets of Republika Srpska and local communities, as well as greater profitability of ERS.
Petrović, after the first panel on energy connectivity and networking in the region at the Trebinje Energy Summit, highlighted that the most important message of today’s Energy Summit is the need to improve the connectivity of energy companies in the region, not only public but also private.
“This is an opportunity for people to meet, to be with creditors, financiers, investors, decision-makers, managers from different areas, and to draw concrete conclusions in three days on seven panels, which we will later forward to decision-makers,” said Petrović.
He added that the goal is not to fall behind modern trends or the requirements of the Energy Community of Southeast Europe.
Petrović pointed out the lack of support from the Energy Community when it comes to decarbonization, stating that there is no clear policy of their support.
He expressed hope that the summit in Trebinje will benefit the energy stability and independence of this part of Europe.
Petrović thanked the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, for supporting the construction of a congress center in Trebinje, where the summit should be held in the future, which he said will be a postcard of the south of Republika Srpska.
The President of the Energy Association of Serbia, Nikola Rajaković, emphasized that the region needs more energy networking and that regional projects, especially those in the Drina basin, should be completed as soon as possible.
“Likewise, it is necessary to encourage and initiate new regional projects,” said Rajaković, presenting the conclusions from the first panel.
He emphasized that the regional electricity market is very important, which has many open questions, but the security of electricity supply, sustainability, and competitiveness in the region, which are part of networking, are crucial.
