I welcome the announcement by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, that there are prospects for the approval of the beginning of EU and BiH negotiations, but without a date, it doesn’t mean much, stated the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
“It should be said that the opening of negotiations is the result of Republika Srpska’s huge and crucial contribution to this process,” Dodik posted on his X account.
Dodik emphasizes that the European path is important as it fulfills a significant national goal – the life of Serbs in an economic and political space without borders.
“I particularly want to thank our partners from Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, and Slovenia, as interlocutors who fully understand the fact that BiH is a ‘small EU’. It can function and move forward only when no interest is excluded but included in the equation. Then we have a positive outcome,” Dodik points out.
The President of Srpska says that any foreign interference in domestic flows is not adding our diversities into positive processes but an equation that pushes us away from our common goal, and EU membership is indeed that goal.
As a reminder, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, recommended today that Bosnia and Herzegovina start negotiations for membership in the European Union.
