The adopted Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest is a law that is the result of a compromise, and this is something we have always talked about in Republika Srpska, said Radovan Kovačević in the Morning Program, a delegate in the Club of Serbs in the House of Peoples in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“If we all insist on our solutions, nothing will ever move here. It is important to always have clearly defined representatives of the three peoples who received legitimacy. It cannot be Željko Komšić or someone else from Srpska, who was elected with non-Serb votes,” said Kovačević.

He emphasized the importance of having legitimate representatives of two equal entities.

“We had a dialogue between factors, including us who are representatives of those parties, peoples, entities at the level of joint institutions. We all had our solutions, which we put on the table and extracted what is a common denominator and acceptable for each side. We got a Law that was adopted,” said Kovačević.

“This Law exclusively concerns institutions at the level of BiH. Unlike the previous Law, this one in no way obliges Republika Srpska to do something in accordance with that Law from the level of BiH. Srpska decides completely autonomously on this issue at the level of BiH,” Kovačević emphasized.

He pointed out that the Law was adopted under pressure in terms of deadlines.

“The pressure was to guarantee that we will get the start of negotiations on March 21. That is the only pressure that we from Srpska agree to. We believe it is important for BiH to move closer to the European Union. From our perspective, we want to be closer to the EU. The closer we are to it, the further we are from having any, especially fake high representatives or foreigners in the Constitutional Court of BiH,” said Kovačević.

Kovačević says that the judiciary must consist of citizens of Republika Srpska and the Federation.

“You have two factors that destroy any agreement in BiH, the first is the fake high representative, Christian Schmidt, and unfortunately, the US ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy. The reasons are known to them,” emphasized Kovačević.

Kovačević believes that “they prefer an unstable BiH because, for Schmidt especially, it means he will continue to receive 25,000 euros a month. What is even more insulting and humiliating is that his salaries are treated as humanitarian aid to BiH. Murphy also wants an unstable BiH, which is not part of the EU. That’s why he keeps telling us, although it is clear to us that there is no consensus for BiH’s movement towards NATO, but there is a consensus for cooperation with NATO. He constantly says that the US supports BiH’s Euro-Atlantic path. That path does not exist; it is interrupted. There is a European path for BiH,” says Kovačević, adding that those who want to be friends will support BiH’s European path.

He questions, who is Murphy to know what is best for our citizens.

“Who is he to know better in any way, better than us who were chosen by the people,” emphasized Kovačević.

Regarding the announcement that the Bosniak part of the BiH mission to the United Nations is independently, without the decision of the Presidency, working on a new resolution on Srebrenica, Kovačević says it is inadmissible and against the Constitution and laws of BiH because foreign policy is exclusively treated and led by the Presidency of BiH.

“Consensus is needed when it comes to foreign policy,” said Radovan Kovačević.
