The entire court process currently being conducted before the Court of BiH against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, for the alleged non-compliance with decisions by Christian Schmidt, represents a classic farce, aiming ultimately to attack the sovereignty of Republika Srpska, stated lawyer Branislav Tapušković, a doyen of Serbian legal practice and former president of the Belgrade and Serb bar associations, commenting on the recent hearing in the case against President Milorad Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette, Miloš Lukić.

Tapušković, who came to Sarajevo from Belgrade to witness firsthand the nature of the court process, expressed an immediate impression that President Dodik was predestined to be convicted and that this court process merely aims to confirm that.

“I fear that it’s a matter of a predetermined issue. It’s evident that the judge is in a hurry to reach a first-instance verdict,” Tapušković told Glas Srpske, mentioning the possibility of joining President Milorad Dodik’s defense team as an advisor.

He highlighted that a foreigner without authorization cannot change key laws related to constitutional matters and the Criminal Code in the country they have entered.

“Also, one cannot be tried based on something that happened and then have a law enacted afterwards to hold them accountable. That’s the main problem, the essence of the entire issue. Even if Christian Schmidt were recognized as the High Representative, he would not have the authority to enact or impose any laws,” Tapušković clarified.
