The play, based on the drama by Johnna Adams, is part of a tour that will visit 12 cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland.
Actress and director of the play, Selma Alispahić, stated that the play is intended for parents, educators, and high school students, who are somewhat neglected when it comes to cultural content.
“This play also speaks about the topic of peer violence, freedom of speech, the feelings of young people in a world that is quite chaotic, where they try to find their place. We often do not see these young people. This is a call to look at them more closely, to listen to them more carefully, to hear what they have to say, and to be there for them,” emphasized Alispahić.
In “Gidion’s Knot,” a mother and a teacher meet in a classroom for a scheduled informational meeting three days after a tragic event. In the confrontation between two strong female figures, they shift responsibility onto each other while simultaneously opening up the question of the universality of pain and the problem of youth growing up today.
In addition to Alispahić, the play also features young actress Helena Vuković, and is a co-production project of MESS Scene, Sarajevo Youth Theatre, and the “Intermezzo” Association.
