The Serb delegate in the House of Peoples, Radovan Kovačević, told RTRS that any attempt by the German citizen, Christian Schmidt, to “impose” amendments to the BiH Election Law means that Republika Srpska will immediately enact its own election law.
“We are absolutely not interested in the opinion of the German citizen, Christian Schmidt. We are not interested in his story about the Election Law among other things. Schmidt is not invited to deal with this, nor any topic in BiH. The partner parties in power at the level of BiH are discussing the Election Law, and I believe that we will find a solution,” Kovačević emphasized, commenting on Schmidt’s statements.
He stated that BiH has many problems and that it is evident.
“If someone now wants to bring BiH to a situation where it is no longer possible to even hold elections, then let them support Schmidt. But for Srpska, it would mean several things. It would mean that Srpska would definitely go on to adopt its own election law,” Kovačević stated.
Kovačević also highlighted that it would lead to the end of BiH’s European path if Schmidt “imposed” amendments to the BiH Election Law.
“We believe that BiH cannot move towards the EU if there is an unelected foreigner who ‘imposes’ decisions. This leads BiH to disappearance,” Kovačević said.
