Višković: The Government Will Legislatively Support Renewable Energy Projects

The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković, announced that the Government and the institutions of Srpska will follow the projects in the field of renewable energy sources through legislative regulations, as it has been recognized as a development opportunity.

Višković highlighted that Republika Srpska currently has a significant number of issued concessions for the production of solar energy, along with a great interest from domestic and foreign investors in these projects.

“In the energy balance of Republika Srpska, we only have a 1.3 percent share of solar energy in the total energy. This year, we expect another two solar power plants of 60 and 20 megawatts to be connected to the grid, so by the end of the year, that percentage would be 3.5 percent,” Višković stated during his address at the “Balkan Solar Summit” dedicated to promoting green energy and environmental protection.

He emphasized that the plans of the Government of Republika Srpska and “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” are to approach the construction of solar power plants more seriously.

“We want to enable every household that has space to build a solar power plant for their needs and in that way free up significant resources for Republika Srpska, which can then appear on the market with these surpluses,” Višković said.

He assessed that electrical energy in Srpska is at the level of a social category, and they want to preserve this but also to free up surpluses with which they will trade at market prices.

The Summit’s opening was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, the Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation Zlatan Klokić, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac.

Representatives of local communities, “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske”, public companies from Srpska, the Federation of BiH, as well as companies from abroad, also participated in the Summit.
