The elections in Azerbaijan on February 7th were held in accordance with national legislation and international standards, stated Milorad Kojić, a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who participated in the observation mission at the extraordinary presidential elections in that country, today in Baku.

Kojić told reporters that there was a high level of professionalism by the Central Election Commission in ensuring the openness and transparency of the election preparation process.

He highlighted that it was evident that the administrative bodies had very well conducted the preparations for the elections, concerning the training of lower-level commissions, media representatives, and public associations.

“The voting at polling stations was well organized, and the officials were familiar with the procedures,” Kojic, who participated in the observation mission along with delegate in the House of Peoples Dzemal Smajic, pointed out.

He thanked the President of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova for the invitation to observe the early presidential elections.

Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dzemal Smajić, assessed that the extraordinary presidential elections in Azerbaijan were conducted in a democratic and fair atmosphere, without incidents, in accordance with the applicable electoral rules and international standards.

Smajic stated that he was impressed by the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the elections and commended the professional work of the teams directly involved in organizing and conducting the elections.

He congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on his victory and expressed a desire for the continuation of friendly relations between the two countries.
