Serbia and Republika Srpska are allies of Russia, demonstrating to the whole world that the West can be told “no,” defending their national interests, and not betraying friends, stated retired Lieutenant General of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, Leonid Reshetnikov.

Reshetnikov, who is a historian and publicist, emphasized that Republika Srpska is today the center of political struggle in the Balkans, stating that the West has set the goal of eliminating Republika Srpska and centralizing Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“This would be a severe blow to the Serb people, Serb statehood, and the Russian Federation. If events develop negatively, Serbia will find itself in a very difficult situation. On the other hand, Russia, in this fateful period, would lose the moral support of the Serbs, which is so important to us, and Belgrade would gradually begin to distance itself from Moscow. This must not be allowed,” Reshetnikov said to the Russian Gazette.

He conveyed that Russia must support Republika Srpska, which remains faithful to the Serbian national idea, relies on Russia, and moves forward together.

Reshetnikov highlighted that President Dodik is leading the policy of uniting the Serb people, adding that Republika Srpska needs political and economic support from Moscow.

“Our President Vladimir Putin is trying to provide comprehensive assistance to the Serbs. This effort must continue. By accepting Dodik in Moscow at the state level, we must show the Serbian people that we are together,” Reshetnikov said.

He pointed out that Russian investments are needed in Republika Srpska, as well as the expansion of Russia’s cultural and financial presence in Srpska.
