“Karan: Do Not Touch Our Property”

The Dayton Agreement clearly states that Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) does not have its pasture, its lake, its meadow, or its border because Dayton explicitly states that all natural and public goods located on the territory of entities exclusively belong to them, pointed out constitutional law professor Siniša Karan.

“Dear sirs, do not touch our forests, rivers, or public goods, because you are only pushing us to return BiH to ‘factory settings,’ driving us towards the path of an independent Republika Srpska where there are no traces of your pressures, blackmail, threats, dismissals, suspensions, impositions, bans, and blockades,” Karan emphasized in a statement to Srna.

He assessed that it has become crystal clear that BiH, the unfortunate country mutilated by high representatives, certain Western embassies, and the unconstitutional Constitutional Court of BiH, can only move forward with backward steps.

“So, this is not about any secession; there is nothing new and unknown here. You will simply force us to go back to the old. Do not ignore the very important fact that at the moment of the creation of Dayton BiH, two states, Republika Srpska since 1992 and the so-called Republic of BiH, later the Federation of BiH since 1994, were functioning, which merged (aggregate) into a new state community, almost a union, BiH,” explained the constitutional law professor.

He said that, for who knows when, he will remind us that Republika Srpska entered BiH as an independent state, introducing its sovereignty into a confederal, complex, and multiethnic BiH.

“We consciously agreed to that, and so be it, because by signing the Dayton Agreement, a precious peace was established, as well as a balance between three warring parties, providing a framework for the formation of federal institutions that would operate on a system of control and balancing between three ethnic groups. Know that your attempts to seize the property of Republika Srpska will lead to even stronger unity and determination among the Serbian people to respond to you with all available legal means. We will not allow the creation of a unitary BiH and the abolition of Republika Srpska,” Professor Karan conveyed.
