The founder and chief editor of the “Balkanist” portal, Oleg Bondarenko, stated that the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, is a key politician for Russia and the most important partner of the Russian Federation in the Balkans. He emphasized that through his actions, Dodik sets a high level of patriotism for all leaders in the region.

He pointed out that there is no more active, clearer, and more passionate politician—a Russophile—in the Balkans than Milorad Dodik. “Of course, there is also the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić,” Bondarenko said to the “Russian Gazette.” Bondarenko highlighted that Serbia and Republika Srpska are the main and only allies of Russia in Europe.

He mentioned that, despite all sympathies towards Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Hungary remains a member of NATO and the EU, limited by the frameworks of earlier agreements. Bondarenko warned that the West is trying to complete the centralization of Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as possible and is attempting to “politically neutralize” President Dodik through the Bosnia and Herzegovina Court. “This is not just a matter of the trial,” he emphasized.

Bondarenko noted that only after the establishment of the Northern Military District and the corresponding reaction from the West did Russia’s attention towards Serbia increase. “We would like our relations not to depend on external circumstances,” Bondarenko emphasized. The promotion of the book “The Last Ally: Serbia and Russia Before and After the Northern Military District,” based on articles from the informative-analytical portal “Balkanist,” took place today at the Museum of Military Uniforms of the Russian Military Historical Society.
