In the next few days, a response to the request for approval for the team of doctors from the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska to examine General Ratko Mladić is expected to arrive from The Hague, stated Vlado Đajić, the general director of the UKC, in an interview with RTRS.
“The medical team is ready to depart for The Hague as soon as approval is received. It consists of a cardiologist, forensic psychiatrist, head of neurology, and myself,” said Đajić.
He emphasized that the doctors from the UKC already have experience when it comes to visits and examinations, noting that the same was done in the case of Stojan Župljanin and Mićo Stanišić.
“After our visit, their health condition improved as we adjusted their therapies,” stated Đajić.
He emphasized that the medical team from the University Clinical Center (UKC) wants to examine General Mladić, review his documentation, and contribute to his better treatment in medical care. Their goal is to determine which medications he should use and where he should receive treatment.
“I’m glad that, following our request, they have already performed some intervention and implanted a pacemaker for General Mladić,” said Đajić.
“We have submitted all the documentation; we are waiting for them to give us a date when they can come. It’s a team of four doctors from Banja Luka, including a neurologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, and another physician,” added Darko Mladić.
The former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska is serving a life sentence in The Hague detention.
