Political scientist Nenad Kecmanović assessed that celebrating the “forbidden” birthday of Republika Srpska has become an inspiration for Serb unity, resistance, defiance, and national pride.

Kecmanović pointed out that the celebration of the Serbian Republic’s birthday, contested by Christian Schmidt and Bosniaks to the extent of attempting to ban it, is marked at a moment when there is a continuity between the time of bombing Serb positions in Bosnia and the bombing of the FR Yugoslavia. He suggests that it aligns with the current period when the collective West is waging a coordinated and synchronized war against Republika Srpska and Serbia.

“Up until now, they have shifted the focus from Banja Luka to Belgrade and vice versa. Now, they are simultaneously striking on both sides, rushing to discipline Serbia and Republika Srpska before Russia reaches the mouth of the Danube and China reintegrates Taiwan, drawing the political geography of a new multipolar world order. It’s a race against time,” said Kecmanović for Srna.

He emphasized that precisely at the time when they have “prepared Maidan” for Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and are trying the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik in Sarajevo, representatives of Serbs from Montenegro and North Macedonia were present at the celebration of Republika Srpska Day in Banja Luka, besides the delegation from Serbia.

“The birthday of Republika Srpska has become a form of hybrid defense for the Serb world,” stated Kecmanović.

In response to the question of how he assesses the relations between Serbia and Republika Srpska and how joint celebrations of national holidays, including the celebration of Republika Srpska Day, influence them, Kecmanović stated that the joint marking of important dates is both a cause and a consequence of Serbian-Serb relations, which are better than ever.

“The birthday gathering in Banja Luka, where the Serbian delegation was exceptionally numerous, represents a symbolic expression of unity between two parts of the same people from the banks of the Drina. At the same time, the celebration reciprocally radiates energy and emotion to make the unity even greater, “explained Kečmanović.

He emphasized that he perceives the Order of the Flag with a Golden Wreath, which he received at the celebration of Republika Srpska Day in Banja Luka from President Milorad Dodik, as recognition for his scientific and pedagogical work at both universities in Republika Srpska, as well as for founding, building, and leading the Faculty of Political Sciences in Banja Luka. Primarily, it is recognition for his books, studies, and shorter texts on Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stated, “I assume that I have contributed something as a senator of Republika Srpska and as a political advisor to the president of the Republic. If I were younger, I would say that this recognition is encouragement and motivation to continue further, but I don’t have time for a longer continuation.”

He mentioned that the order he received showed him that his work over the past decades is appreciated in Republika Srpska, which fills him with satisfaction.

“I am particularly pleased that the order was personally presented to me by President Milorad Dodik, and it is an honor for me to be awarded at the same high rank as Academician Matija Bećković”, emphasized Kecmanović.
