The overflight of NATO aircraft above Republika Srpska on Republic Day is an open threat of the use of force if pressures from the West result in violence, stated the distinguished political analyst and former American diplomat James Jatras.

He said that Western politicians have long seen Serbs as a “conveniently vulnerable substitute for their anti-Russian obsessions,” and the goal of the aircraft overflight is to intimidate Republika Srpska and its president, Milorad Dodik.

“There is no doubt that the current growing tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina—falsely attributed by Western governments and media to alleged attempts by President Dodik to ‘undermine the Dayton Peace Agreement’—are actually the result of efforts by the ‘Global American Empire’ to centralize Bosnia and Herzegovina under Muslim control. It’s an attempt to push them towards what they see as a suitable pressure point,” stated Jatras for Srna.

Jatras expressed the belief that Dodik and the Serbian people in Republika Srpska will continue to resist such pressures in a firm yet just manner.

An American military tanker aircraft flew over the area near Banja Luka on Monday, January 8, ahead of the Republic of Srpska Day celebrations. The U.S. Embassy stated that a bilateral ground-air exercise, Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) teams from the U.S. Special Forces and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, took place in the Tuzla and Brčko areas in the afternoon.
