IZIS is ready; here’s when it will be put into operation

“The Integrated Health Information System (IZIS) is ready,” announced the Health Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska.

As stated, the Health Insurance Fund has implemented all necessary preventive activities, but the launch of the Integrated Health Information System (IZIS) will be gradual, starting on Monday, in those healthcare institutions that have adhered to all provided safety recommendations.

The Fund added that today, during a meeting with representatives of healthcare institutions, the schedule for implementing the Integrated Health Information System (IZIS) was agreed upon.

“It is planned to prioritize the functionality release for family medicine and emergency services, as well as other activities. However, before each release, each part of IZIS will undergo additional testing by healthcare workers,” added the statement from the Health Insurance Fund.

Earlier, healthcare institutions, or external users of the system, were given recommendations in the statement on the activities they should undertake to fulfill the prerequisites for the safe launch of IZIS.

“To provide external users with enough time to verify the security of their information systems, IZIS has not yet been restored to function. Considering that some institutions have informed us that they have implemented the given recommendations, it is planned to gradually restore IZIS to function starting next week,” stated the Health Insurance Fund.

The Health Insurance Fund immediately mobilized all its resources, including the resources of IZIS system maintainers, to address the cyber attack and ensure that IZIS is operational in the shortest possible time.

“At the same time, although IZIS had maximum protection, with the system recovery, we will further improve the security of the system to an even higher level. For this reason, among other things, work and data exchange in IZIS will be enabled only for those healthcare institutions that have scanned their computer network and changed user accounts in the system. Healthcare institutions are obliged to provide the Fund with credible evidence that they have followed the Fund’s instructions. Also, healthcare institutions using applications from other manufacturers are required to obtain evidence from them that they have followed the instructions and scanned their computer network and servers,” added the statement.

We remind you that the Health Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska received support from the Government of Republika Srpska yesterday for the implementation of all necessary activities. It is of common interest to recover the Integrated Health Information System as soon as possible from a highly sophisticated hacker attack and to collectively implement all security measures preventively before the reestablishment of IZIS.
