The 17th Handball Locomotive Cup in Brčko has once again delighted all participants. Outstanding organization and high-quality handball showcased why this tournament is included in the European Handball Federation calendar.
The hosts received praise from guests in the region, with words of admiration coming from Veszprém, Ribnica, Krka, and other participating teams. The dedication of Slovenian teams to this sport is evident, as all teams had strong support in Brčko. Teams like Trimo, Krka, and Ribnica had a loyal fan base throughout the tournament.


In the 2007 age category, handball players from Trimo Trebnje emerged victorious, defeating Krka Novo Mesto 31:21 in the final. Ribnica secured the third-place position by overcoming Metaloplastika with a score of 27:22.
The 2009 age category saw Koper’s team triumph, beating Krka 22:18 in the final, while Ribnica outperformed Novi Beograd with a score of 20:16. In the youngest-age category, Hungarian Veszprém emerged as the winner, defeating Ribnica 24:17 in the final. Koper secured third place by winning against Krka with a score of 23:22.


Brčko has provided us with a great spectacle and confirmed that the Locomotive Cup definitely deserves a place in the European Handball Federation calendar. The phenomenal organization and renowned hospitality have impressed us. These were days of pure enjoyment for all handball enthusiasts. Quality preparations, good handball, and officiating—all were at a high level. The entire event deserves a very high rating. We look forward to the next editions, and until then, we believe that young participants will achieve great things,” said Branka Marić, EHF supervisor.


In the youngest category, Hungarian Veszprém emerged victorious. Coach Viktor Karolif stated that such a tournament is a fantastic opportunity for young players to further progress.
It’s an exceptional feeling to become a champion in such a well-organized and strong tournament. Congratulations to all competitors on everything they showcased and to my team on the gold medal. These are priceless experiences for all young athletes and an opportunity to progress significantly, gain new experiences, and make additional friends. We strive to nurture a winning mentality constantly to have more opportunities to enjoy events like these,” said Veszprém’s coach, Viktor Karolif.”
