“President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and Acting Director of the Official Gazette Miloš Lukić have had their human rights violated in the proceedings against them, said Nevenko Vranješ, the ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Serb community, speaking on the Morning Program of RTRS.

‘Their human rights have been violated, and there is no doubt about it. It is difficult to expect any fair procedure in this process,’ Vranješ emphasized, adding that the entire process is based on laws whose existence is questionable.

Today is December 10, we mark it as International Human Rights Day.

On average, we receive about 3,000 annual complaints from our citizens. Citizens complain about the work of the police, inspections, healthcare, children’s rights are endangered, including young people, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. We have issued 428 recommendations, which are not binding, but they encourage authorities to do their job. We use all means to prevent these issues,’ Vranješ stressed.

Vranješ highlights the need to raise awareness among citizens to respect human rights.

‘We have noticed that our citizens are not well aware of their own rights. We remind them that addressing our institutions is completely free of charge,’ Vranješ added.

Even in this year, human rights defenders in Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have observed numerous violations, including particularly sensitive groups such as returnees.

‘We open cases ex officio and work to avoid these situations, as they involve particularly sensitive categories, knowing that they have returned to their homes after personal tragedies,’ Vranješ concluded.”
