Former U.S. diplomat James Jatras believes that President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik is one of the few genuine and sincere leaders in today’s Europe who speaks with great sincerity and courage.
Jatras stated that it was inspiring to hear Dodik as a political leader at yesterday’s International Conference “Republika Srpska: Respect for Sovereignty and the Dayton Agreement.”
He emphasized that the position of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and globally has always been complex, as many from within and outside have sought to degrade it even before the ink dried on the Dayton Agreement.
“There were intentions to violate Dayton’s provisions and create a unitary Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the dominance of the Muslim people. This is a source of constant pressure on Srpska. Therefore, you must persevere to see the cross returned to the flag of Republika Srpska,” said Jatras.
He argued that the Dayton Peace Agreement is not a solution for Bosnia and Herzegovina and is not in the interest of Srpska, essentially being a ceasefire.
Dodik has assessed that self-determination could be a long-term solution for Srpska, but the intermediate period in the future will determine the options available.
He believes that it is clear the world is moving from unipolarity dominated by the U.S. toward multipolarity, which must happen peacefully.
Jatras argued that the U.S. should defend the Dayton Peace Agreement as written, but it is challenging to achieve at this moment.
He said that the actions of Christian Schmidt and his legitimacy serve the global American empire, which is ending, transitioning to a multipolar world.
According to him, there is no multipolarity without national identity, and the strength of Republika Srpska lies in the Serb people and their self-awareness.
“Russians and Serb know their identity, which cannot be said for the U.S. For decades, we have been under the propaganda that we are not an ethnic but a civil state. This clearly indicates the nature of the policy,” Jatras noted.
He reminded that due to global events, it is important to preserve national identity, especially in Republika Srpska, as the U.S. aims to create a Muslim state in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or a centralized and unitary one, since the signing of the Dayton Agreement.
