President of the Organization of the Senior Officers of the Army of Republika Srpska, Slobodan Župljanin, stated that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity, by accepting the defense’s request to transfer the proceedings against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the Acting Director of the Official Gazette, Miloš Lukić, to show its trust in the independent judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Župljanin stated that the Basic Court in Banja Luka was capable of ensuring an independent trial, but by rejecting the defense’s request, the Court of BiH confirmed that this was not a legal but a political process.
“It’s not realistic to expect a fair trial before the Court of BiH. This was an opportunity for this court to evade all pressure and transfer the case to the Banja Luka Court, which is capable of conducting a fair trial and translating it into a purely legal process,” highlighted Župljanin.
He emphasized that the proceedings against Dodik and Lukić were politically motivated and that this trial in BiH would bring many problems to everyone in BiH.
“This is a trial against the institutions of Republika Srpska, not a civil trial,” Župljanin stated.
Regarding yesterday’s incident at the Court of BiH, where an OSCE representative brought a phone into the courtroom and recorded those present, Župljanin said that this could not have happened without the Court’s approval. According to him, this incident further confirms that foreign factors are exerting strong pressure on the Court.
