Republika Srpska is strategically committed to EU membership and insists on addressing and fulfilling all 14 priorities outlined in the European Commission’s opinion integrally and as a package, stated Radovan Kovačević, the delegate of the Serb people in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He emphasized that this is the only way to alleviate fears and frustrations among all sides in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“By selectively choosing which priorities are more critical than others, it will always leave some of the key internal factors in Bosnia and Herzegovina dissatisfied, thus slowing down or hindering Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to Europe. Therefore, the only way to demonstrate a commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration is to initiate an intensive process where through agreement and consensus, we achieve an integral solution to address all 14 priorities outlined in the European Commission’s opinion,” Kovačević conveyed in a statement on X.
He stressed that representatives will enter the Parliamentary Assembly and leave only after adopting all necessary measures.
Republika Srpska is in! We’re waiting for the actors from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Moreover, it’s abundantly clear, and all international partners must know, that anyone attempting to undermine this approach isn’t actually supporting European integration but solely aims to selectively misuse it for the country’s centralization. That won’t fly – Kovačević is firm on this.
He asserted that Republika Srpska has its priorities and rightfully believes that progress on the European path isn’t feasible with an outsider who has proclaimed themselves a protector and desires to be above all democratic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, introducing complete uncertainty in the system’s functioning and undermining the constitutional order and sovereignty of BiH.
“The same applies to foreign judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH, which the BiH Constitution anticipated would have been replaced as early as 2000, or 23 years ago,” Kovačević concluded.
