Guitarist Vladimir Tubić and his quintet performed tonight at the Sixth Jazz Music Festival “Intim Jazz Fest” in Banja Luka.

Alongside Tubić, Max Kochetov (saxophone), Stevan Milijanović (keyboards), Branko Vučetina (bass), and Alexa Milijanović (drums) performed at the Banski Dvor.

A special guest at the concert was Aleksandar Mihic, a guitarist from Banja Luka.

The repertoire included Tubić’s original compositions from his instrumental album “Half Step Up,” as well as original compositions by the quintet members and interpretations of well-known jazz standards in a more modern funky-jazz arrangement.

Tubić expressed his delight at the presence of such a festival in Banja Luka, emphasizing that this was his first performance at the “Intim Jazz Festival.”

“This is the real deal. What Mladen Matović, the director of Banski Dvor, has done for Banja Luka is unprecedented. As far as I’m concerned, that man leads the cultural life of Banja Luka, not just because of this festival, but because of the impressive number of events held at Banski Dvor daily,” said Tubić.

Tubić won his first guitar competition at the age of 16 and then embarked on a rich musical journey infused with learning and exploring music at some of the most prestigious music education institutions, as announced by the Cultural Center Banski Dvor.

Kochetov mentioned that he met Tubić five years ago and that they played together in a band while Tubić was still a student. He then invited Tubić to play his original music.

“He’s a great talent, his music is very beautiful. Vladimir will soon release a new album; I know he’s working on it, so there will be more performances. Banja Luka should be proud to have someone like him,” said Kochetov.

He praised the organizers of the “Intim Jazz Festival” and reminded that he had performed in Banja Luka several times before.

“I had a solo concert with my quartet, performed with Beti Đorđević, Lena Kovačević, was a member of some ensembles that appeared at last year’s festivals, and looking at this lineup board listing names like Toni Lakatos and Vito Jordan, this festival is growing year by year,” Kochetov added.
