“The Olympic Center ‘Jahorina’ and the ‘Mavrovo’ Ski Resort in North Macedonia have signed an agreement today on cooperation, which is a crucial step towards forming a unified ski pass.
Director of the Olympic Center ‘Jahorina,’ Dejan Ljevnaic, highlighted that by signing this agreement, the connection among ski destinations in this area is strengthened, as announced by the center.
“In a global context of challenges, we have emphasized the importance of joint work, sharing resources, and experiences. We believe that regional cooperation plays a key role in preserving and enhancing the skiing culture. When all these parameters come together, business success is guaranteed,” emphasized Ljevnaic.
He added that he believes these key steps open doors to new ambitious goals, including the possibility of bringing the Olympic Games back to the region.
“Establishing a unified ski pass that is valid from Slovenia to North Macedonia represents a significant step towards integrating our ski destinations and provides a unique experience to winter sports enthusiasts. Through this connectivity, we not only enable skiers from across the region to easily access different ski resorts, but we also create a strong alliance that has the potential to attract attention from the global sports arena,” said Ljevnaic.
Ognjen Ciganski, the Director of the ‘Mavrovo’ Ski Resort, expressed satisfaction with the visit of the Director of the Olympic Center ‘Jahorina,’ emphasizing that they now have a reliable partner and support in this ambitious project aimed at creating an attractive ski destination that will attract as many tourists as possible and contribute significantly to the growth of tourism in North Macedonia.
“We follow Jahorina’s example and recognize the importance of joint efforts in creating a unique skiing experience in a broader area. Through this collaboration, Mavrovo strives to become an essential destination for winter sports lovers, offering a rich skiing experience and hospitality,” said Ciganski.
In addition to representatives from the ski resorts Kruševo and Popova Shapka, the Ambassador of BiH to North Macedonia, Dragan Jaćimović, also attended today’s ceremony.
Jaćimović highlighted the friendly relations between BiH and North Macedonia, emphasizing that the direct Sarajevo – Skopje flight further strengthens ties and facilitates tourists in experiencing the richness of both countries.
The Olympic Center ‘Jahorina’ notes that this event confirms strong international cooperation and support aimed at preserving the skiing heritage in this region.
The Olympic Center ‘Jahorina’ recently renewed the cooperation agreement with ski resorts in Montenegro, as well as ski resorts in Slovenia and Romania. The same model is planned to be applied to the ‘Igrišta’ ski resort, which is scheduled to open at the end of December.
“We expect that the newly established flights between Skopje and Sarajevo will significantly contribute to an increased influx of tourists to both ski centers – Mavrovo and Jahorina. The planned flight schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays provides ideal flexibility for visitors who want to enjoy the winter charms of these beautiful destinations,” the statement concludes.”
